Event Review: The Royal Ascot Goat Races

Updated: Aug 27, 2018

The annual Royal Ascot Goat Races event was held at Speke Resort Munyonyo this weekend after a six year hiatus. It returned to great success and was attended by many patrons some of whom donned their best attire and custom hats for the event.

As was with previous years, goats were auctioned off to private individuals and companies. The winning goats won their owners some prizes. The crowds were also given the chance to bet on the goats and won cash prizes.

Unlike the horse races, the goats were not forced to run or whipped. Rather, they ran aimlessly at their own accord round a track for two laps, sometimes stopping to eat grass and had to be gently pushed to complete the races making the experience funny and entertaining to watch.

Blogkla attended the event and captured the moments and styles of the audience.

Beautiful Real Roses adorned the race track.

The GOAT sign was a crowd favorite for photographs.

Families and Kids had a fun day out.
