Okay, okay! so Ebooks, tablets, phones blah.. blah are all the rage these days when it comes to reading. Everything is going digital, we get it.. *rolls eyes*. However, some of us still love the good ol' smell of paper and get extremely giddy when we purchase that new book to read! Nothing beats chilling in a corner chair and flipping through a great book with a cup of tea or coffee.
Luckily for us, Kampala still has some great independent bookshops where you can pick up a good book. These are some of our favourite bookshops in Kampala.
Aristoc Booklex
By far the oldest independent bookshop in Kampala, Aristoc has two convenient locations in the heart of Kampala and is your go to for novels, autobiographies, textbooks, gifts, cards etc. You will be spoiled for choice.
Bookpoint
Bookpoint in Village Mall is great bookshop where you can make a quick pit stop while shopping at the mall. They have an extensive selection of books like Aristoc and will have more top sellers in stock if they sell out at Aristoc.
Gustro Limited
Dubbing itself as one of the leading book distributors in Uganda, Gustro at Old Kampala carries an array of books ranging from Textbooks to novels. They have been in the business for 25 years and is a popular bookshop for students and scholars.
Kardamom & Koffee
Kardamom & Koffee is a quaint coffee shop/restaurant in Kololo that also moonlights as a mini bookshop. They have unique selections that can be perused and read while having a coffee at their hideaway in Kololo.
La Fontaine Christian Bookshop
La Fontaine Christian Booskhop at Colline house is the perfect place to go when you need to pick up a christian book or a gift for that christian friend or fam. They have several items from different versions of the bible to gifts, cards, christian music etc.
