These are our recommendations for the best wine bars that our humble city has to offer.
NOTE: We actually did go to all these wine bars, had a glass of wine, checked out the vibe and listed them here. They aren't in any particular order/rating hence no biases.
Uganda Wines & Spirits Wine Bar
The Wine Bar located at Uganda Wines & Spirits is a hidden gem at the back of the shop and thanks to their extensive collection of wines has a large selection to choose from. The wine bar has a beautiful patio where you can grab a glass of wine or two or even a bottle off their shelf in a quiet setting. This makes it the perfect place for quiet business meeting or a start to a nice night.
The Wine Garage (Both Muyenga & Kisementi Locations)
One of the pioneer wine bars in Kampala, the Wine Garage (Muyenga) has been a local favourite for a few years now and has a cult following of dedicated patrons who swing by to grab a glass of wine regularly. Their Wine Wednesday deal is favourite for regulars. Their sister shop at Kisementi is fairly new, has a great selection of wines and is conveniently located in the busy downtown area where you can drop by for a glass after work.
Champagne Room At Serena Hotel
Serena hotel has various restaurants serving great wines however, their champagne room takes the cake when it comes to classy wining and dining. The champagne room has an extensive selection of champagnes to choose from by the glass or bottle. It also has a very cozy and quiet vibe making it a lovely date night spot.
The Pantry
The pantry is a cute wine shop that has two locations at Kisementi and Ggaba road (Near Le Chateau/Le Patisserie). They have great wines and a few hidden gems that you can’t find anywhere else in Kla. They also carry out tastings every weekend and at their Le chateau location, you can order a glass or even have a bottle of wine while chilling on their patio. They also have great cheese that you can pair with your wines for accompaniment.
Cantine Divino's Wine Bar
Despite being known for its good food, Cantine Divino’s wine bar offers amazing wines by the glass or bottle. If you’re not in the mood for food but simply need to grab a glass or 3, check them out.
The Vineyard Cafe & Wine Bar
The Vineyard Wine bar is hidden at the back of forest mall. They have a food and drinks menu with a great selection of wines, a lovely patio and the location has ample car parking space at the mall.
La Ville Wines & Spirits
La Ville has been at The Village Mall for a awhile now and is your go to wine bar for a quick glass of wine after a long day at the office or shopping. They also carry a couple of South African wines that can’t be found anywhere else in Kampala.
Casa De Roy
Casa De Roy is a champagne bar and boutique shop located at 110 industrial area. It is also an art gallery where you can have great convos with friends over a glass of wine surrounded by art and sculptures that are personal collections of the proprietor.
